Marion City Band members have completed this years journey to Mount Gambier for the 2015 Blue Lake Band Festivals.
The events of the festival on Saturday started with the Marion Marchers on Parade for the inspection and street marching competition, followed by the All Bands mass march and the Mount Gambier Christmas Pageant.
With a colourful and fun display of costumes players from Marion City Band posed as Mexicans and Warriparinga Brass as Snowmen – with the music to match each of the costumes.
The band events at Mount Gambier were televised live online through Brassbanded (http://www.brassbanned.com/), who provided a livestream feed coverage of the street marching, pageant and stage competitions. Band members, supporters and family unable to make the trip to Mt Gambier were able to take advantage of this and see live the performances by ours and other bands.
Congratulations to both Marion City Band and Warriparinga Brass Band on their stage performances.
One of the exciting highlights of the weekend was the presentation of the Mount Gambier Lions Band of the Year 2015 award, which was presented to Warriparinga Brass on Saturday.
Well done to all involved – from sewing of costumes through to playing in the bands (and everything in between).
A very successful weekend.
